What can be done for the past?
What can be done for the past?
In Palermo was once again rekindled the age-old question of "homeless" and the cathedral was once again occupied, I would say among the general indifference!
I think the problem is a general misunderstanding of the past, in Palermo as well as in the rest of Italy, which leads to two divergent perspectives: the past or are ignored or even repressed, waiting for who knows what expected socio-economic progress will lead to their spontaneous extinction, or are considered as a sort of protected class to which it is allowed to do anything with the solidarity of the most enlightened tolerance.
Both perspectives, though different, have one thing in common, paradoxically, is that "doing nothing" on a practical level to intervene and resolve the issue at its root.
These days, in which the powerful of the world are committed to giving the government financial reserves fund to save the rich of the earth (and I say this with disappointment, but as one of the tasks of those who have responsibility for managing the world economy ) are not directors of goodwill that can deal decent, the problem of the poor, who are under their own home, starting solutions virtuous able to "convert" their vision of life and provide them the means to recover state of poverty in which they pay? The discounted
adage: "If you see a hungry man, he did not give a fish, but teach him to fish," here is very timely.
course is more difficult and challenging to fish than to teach an occasional charity, but is resolving the problem and, specifically, more respectful of human dignity.
